Location: Remote
Schedule: Full-Time | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (flexibility considered)

About the Company

We are a rapidly growing construction company based in the United States, currently scaling operations and expanding into new service lines. With ~45–50 employees and strong year-over-year growth (~80%+), we are entering a critical phase where financial discipline, forecasting accuracy, and cost control are essential to sustained success.

Our current finance structure includes a part-time bookkeeper, external accountant, and fractional CFO. We are now seeking a full-time Financial Controller to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations and bring structure, visibility, and strategic insight to the business.

The Role

This is a high-impact, hands-on Financial Controller role responsible for owning the company’s financial operations, reporting, and forward-looking planning.

You will act as the central financial leader in the business—bridging bookkeeping, accounting, and strategic finance—while working directly with the owner and leadership team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-growing, unstructured environments, and can build systems, improve controls, and proactively guide financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities Financial Oversight & Operations

  • Own and oversee day-to-day financial operations across the business
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data, reports, and cash positions
  • Manage and coordinate with bookkeeper, accountant, and fractional CFO
  • Monitor accounts, transactions, and inter-account cash movements

Cash Flow Management

  • Maintain real-time visibility into company cash flow
  • Forecast short-term and long-term cash needs
  • Proactively manage liquidity, ensuring smooth operations without fire drills
  • Eliminate reactive financial management (e.g., last-minute fund transfers)

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Build and maintain dynamic financial models and forecasts
  • Develop budgets that reflect rapid growth (not just historical data)
  • Provide weekly and monthly financial insights to leadership
  • Support scenario planning for scaling operations and new initiatives

Cost Control & Profitability

  • Identify cost inefficiencies and implement controls
  • Analyze spending patterns and recommend optimization strategies
  • Ensure the business operates with strong financial discipline
  • Deliver measurable ROI through cost savings and improved margins

Reporting & Strategic Support

  • Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports
  • Translate financial data into actionable business insights
  • Support leadership in decision-making with clear financial visibility
  • Help build scalable financial systems and processes

What Success Looks Like

  • Clear, accurate, and timely financial reporting across the business
  • Strong control over cash flow with no reactive “fire drills”
  • Budgets and forecasts that reflect real growth (not just historical trends)
  • Reduced unnecessary spend and improved financial efficiency
  • Leadership confidently relying on you for financial clarity and direction

Qualifications Required

  • 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management
  • Strong experience in FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proven ability to manage cash flow in a growing business
  • Experience working in construction, project-based, or similar industries (strongly preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets (financial modeling)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and reporting
  • Excellent English communication skills (C1/C2 level)

Preferred

  • Experience supporting small-to-mid-sized businesses (SMBs)
  • Background working with outsourced/fractional finance teams
  • Experience in high-growth or scaling environments
  • Familiarity with US accounting standards and practices

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proactive and ownership-driven — you don’t wait to be told what to fix
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure from scratch
  • Strong business partner mindset — not just reporting numbers, but guiding decisions
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to zoom out and think strategically
  • Cost-conscious with a focus on driving real financial impact

Why This Role

  • Direct exposure to the business owner and leadership team
  • Opportunity to own the entire finance function
  • Play a critical role in scaling a high-growth construction company
  • Make a measurable impact on profitability and operational efficiency

Additional Notes

  • Open to candidates in LATAM, South Africa, and the Philippines
  • Full-time preferred to ensure ownership and consistency
  • Role may initially require ~30 hours/week but expected to grow into full-time scope
  • Flexibility on schedule may be considered for exceptional candidates
