The position
We are looking for a Financial Accountant to support our Financial Manager in the financial management of our group including our main operating entity in South Africa, our current and future subsidiaries across Southern Africa, East Africa and the Netherlands (currently comprising 12 small entities).
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to our Financial Manager, the Financial Accountant’s responsibilities for the Grounded Group include:
Management of the Finance Administrators and their output
Review and approve all purchase invoices and expenses ensuring purchasing processes and approvals have been followed and are in line with approved budgets
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries & account reconciliations
Monthly budget reporting and variance analysis
Review and submit payroll and related returns
Review and submit vat returns (with support for international entities)
Inventory management
Maintain fixed asset registers
Reconciliation of all intercompany transactions and loan accounts
Documenting the standard operating processes and procedures pertaining to finance
Ad hoc financial and administrative activities
Profile
We are looking for candidates with the following profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
SAIPA/SAICA Articles plus 2 years post articles in an accounting or related role
Experience with Xero Accounting Software
Experience in Group Accounting and intercompany transactions
Experience in Budgeting & Forecasting
Advanced Excel skills
Highly organised and high attention to detail
Good communication skills with clients and team members
A quick learner able to perform under time pressure
Affinity with Grounded’s mission
Based in Cape Town and able to work from our office in Woodstock at least 3 days a week
Able to travel to African countries for work purposes
Additional Information
This is a full-time permanent position. A fair remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate in accordance with experience. Preference will be given to BEE candidates.
