ROLE OVERVIEW:

Our client, a leading company in the renewable energy sector, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Accountant to oversee the financial operations of its Distribution Division.

The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, inventory accounting, financial controls, and commercial finance while partnering with operational teams to drive profitability and support strategic business decisions.

This role requires a finance professional with excellent analytical ability, sound commercial judgement, and a high level of integrity. As the role involves access to highly confidential financial information, the successful candidate must demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and ethical conduct at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Lead the day-to-day financial operations of the Distribution Division.
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • Manage month-end and year-end reporting processes.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful financial insights to management.
  • Develop financial reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts and financial models.
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets.
  • Analyse variances and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Support strategic planning through financial analysis and forecasting.

Cash Flow and Working Capital Management

  • Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity requirements.
  • Oversee debtors and creditors to optimise working capital.
  • Improve cash conversion cycles.
  • Manage banking relationships.
  • Monitor foreign exchange exposure and treasury requirements.

Inventory and Commercial Finance

  • Oversee inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
  • Monitor inventory valuation and product costing.
  • Analyse landed costs and gross margins.
  • Support procurement and operational teams with financial analysis.
  • Provide pricing and profitability analysis to support commercial decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and profitability.

Import and Export Finance

  • Manage the financial aspects of international procurement and import/export transactions.
  • Oversee foreign supplier payments.
  • Manage foreign currency transactions.
  • Monitor exchange rate exposure.
  • Calculate and monitor landed costs.
  • Liaise with banks, freight forwarders, customs clearing agents, and international suppliers.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Financial Management role.
  • Experience within the renewable energy, distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, engineering, or electrical products industries will be advantageous.
  • Experience with import/export finance, international supplier payments, and foreign exchange.
  • Experience using ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin (spoken and/or written), or a good understanding of Chinese business culture, will be advantageous, given the company's international supplier and stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience with business intelligence reporting and financial dashboards.
