Financial Accountant
Our client, a high-impact investment holding company, is currently seeking a Financial Accountant with experience in the Financial Services Industry to join their dedicated team.
Purpose
of the Job
The purpose of this role is to ensure that the technical tax and accounting services provided to the company and SPV conform with accounting reporting standards and that effective financial analysis is conducted.
This position requires the ability to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, understand both big-picture and detailed perspectives, and balance complexity with simplicity.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Analysis
:
Interpret investment contracts and transactions for tax, accounting, and reporting purposes; analyze quarterly financial statements; maintain data and transaction records; prepare monthly investment performance reports; coordinate with the investment team on interest and dividend schedules; assist in assessing new asset models.
Budgeting and Reporting
:
Prepare consolidated budgets; analyze valuation models; manage external audits; review audit reports and implement corrective measures.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
:
Generate performance reports for various stakeholders; oversee treasury functions; support SPVs; prepare management accounts; assist in presentations and audit committee preparations; ensure IFRS compliance and prepare consolidated financial statements.
Governance and Sustainability
:
Identify risks related to financial data and compliance; review policies and IFRS updates; develop financial systems and policies; ensure implementation of audit recommendations; support corporate reporting as per King IV; ensure regulatory compliance.
Tax Planning and Compliance
:
File tax returns; evaluate VAT returns; finalize tax calculations; communicate with SARS; prepare tax opinions.
IT Governance
:
Lead digitization and automation initiatives; maintain finance IT systems.
Team Management
:
Manage junior staff and trainees, overseeing daily communication and performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
Recently qualified Chartered Accountant (SA).
