The successful candidate will review financial reports; monitor accounts; prepare activity reports and investigate ways to improve profitability.
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Finance Accountant will be based in the Western Cape and be responsible for the Financial Officers on 3/4 farms in the area. A valid drivers license is a must-have as this role requires weekly travel.

Key Performance Outputs
-Travel to farms in respective areas needed-

Ensure that processing of all expenses incurred by farm is captured timeously via purchase order and allocated correctly.

Ensure that the information is accurate, complete and real (exists). This includes VAT on transactions.

Manage and follow up on outstanding purchase orders awaiting approval.

Review payment requests and manage all bank payments, ensuring they are loaded for approval in a timely manner.

Follow up on all outstanding payments, adhering to a strict 30-day payment policy from the invoice date

Ensure that all income received by farm is timeously processed, allocated correctly and VAT is treated correctly.

Ensure information is accurate, complete and it exists.

Review reconciliations for customers, suppliers, stock and bank accounts to ensure accuracy.

Complete VAT and EMP reconciliations and submissions to the South African Revenue Service (SARS), ensuring compliance with financial regulations, which includes diesel rebates and ETI.

Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations and include/prepare all supporting schedules/maintaining all supporting ledgers (AP, AR, Fixed Asset, Stock).

Ensure that the General Ledger allocations are correct as per the guidelines.

Review and process daily inventory journals, allocating stock to the appropriate general ledger accounts.

Review stock counts and stock on hand for accuracy, completeness and existence.

Process and review month-end corrective entries based on the approved stock adjustment schedule to maintain accurate inventory records.

Process all journals required accurately and timeously to ensure the monthly information presented is complete and accurate. This includes but is not limited to Payroll, Depreciation, Foreign Exchange transactions, Provisions, Accruals and Stock.

Ensure that all information required for management accounts are prepared on a timeously basis by working with the teams at the farms.

Prepare annual financial budgets

Review and implement supporting schedules to help track operational data to help explain the performance of the farm.

Prepare and review monthly financial reports and commentary for internal and external use, ensuring they reflect accurate financial status.

Prepare and review Budget versus Actual reports to review variances and take the appropriate actions to comply.

Maintain and update audit documentation monthly.

Run the annual financial audits.

Ensure timely issuance of financial statements.

Requirements

Qualification / Experience

B.Comm Accounting Degree / CIMA will be advantageous.

Minimum of 5 years’ similar experience

3 years’ experience of managing people.

ERP system knowledge will be advantageous

Functional / Technical

Intermediate computer literacy; MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Strong administration skills and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong ability to meet deadlines
