Financial Accountant Jobs in South Africa at Business Triggers
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Accountant with a strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and advanced Excel functions. The ideal candidate will play a key role in fees negotiation, financial data analysis, reconciliations, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Interest/ Fees Negotiation with clients
o This involves the negotiation of better fees with potential clients before onboarding them
o Mathematically determine optimal rates and fees for each client
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Analyze financial data and trends to support business decision-making.
Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations.
General Accounting & Compliance
Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and relevant tax regulations.
Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
Oversee general ledger maintenance and journal entries.
Coordinate with auditors for year-end audits.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
Prepare VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax calculations and submissions.
Ensure compliance with SARS regulations (if in South Africa) or relevant tax authorities.
Excel & Financial Modelling
Develop and maintain complex financial models.
Utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, Macros, Power Query, and Power BI).
Automate financial reports and processes using Excel formulas and VBA.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management
Oversee accounts payable/receivable processes and ensure accuracy.
Monitor cash flow and banking transactions.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and processes.
Implement strong internal financial controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum 2-3 years experience in a financial accounting role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Advanced level) – ability to build and analyze complex financial models.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Pastel, Xero, or similar).
Strong understanding of IFRS/GAAP and tax regulations.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, Power Query, VBA, Financial Modelling).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Additions:
Experience with Power BI or SQL is a plus.
Background in financial planning & analysis (FP&A).
Knowledge of financial automation tools.
