Our client, a well-established company in the Insurance sector, is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant with strong commercial experience to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, perform financial analysis, and provide forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Tax Compliance: Oversee tax planning and compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and adherence to local tax regulations.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
Accounts Management: Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring efficient processing and reconciliation of transactions.
Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors during financial audits and implement recommendations to enhance financial processes.
Financial Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost savings.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CA(SA) or CIMA are advantageous.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience within a commercial environment; experience in audit or consulting firms is not preferred for this role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decisions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial issues.
