Finance Specialist Jobs in Fargo, ND at Northern Lights Council

Operate in a congenial and informative manner to maintain accurate records and materials for council finance program. Provide support for the council’s Popcorn Sale. Provide support for the Development Director by providing a high quality of secretarial skills which conveys the high standard of Scouting. This includes accurately Typing correspondence, reports, etc. and meeting deadlines, providing information to the staff, board members and volunteers. Research information when requested. Accept responsibilities and use initiative in performing all duties. An Attitude of “Service” is a must. Performance Shal be the quality to indicate a high degree of independence of action and responsibility.

The Northern Lights Council serves more than 5,000 Scouts and volunteer leaders in four states, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and South Dakota. The council headquarters is in Fargo, ND. This person would work in our office in Fargo.

Key Functions / Functions / Principal Responsibilities:

  • Receipt all contributions. Make accurate computer entries in the Customer Relationship management Software, Blackbaud, for all donations/gifts and payments to the Council.
  • Process and mail donation invoices from Blackbaud
  • Calculation, typing, publishing and emailing weekly and month end donation reports to professional staff, and volunteers.
  • Maintain records of the annual popcorn sale. Submit scholarship paperwork. Assemble popcorn kits, mail popcorn invoices, file paperwork, check names of selling Scouts to make sure they are registered, calculate top Council, District and Unit sellers.
  • Provide Full Secretarial Support to the Development Director. Including Typing Correspondence, agendas, reports, etc. Proofread materials for errors in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar capitalization and work usage to produce effort free work.
  • Assist in coordination and preparing typed materials for the special events. And providing information to staff and volunteers. This includes creating and maintaining a database, maintaining attendance and event preparation.
  • Provide donor background research on past charitable giving to Scouting and other nonprofit organizations as requested.
  • Handle phone calls related to Donations, popcorn and finance.
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers in person, through email and over the phone.
  • Cover the Front Counter as needed
  • Provide back-up support preparing bank deposits and closing the POS system as needed
  • Responsibilities may be changed, added or deleted at the direction of the Scout Executive.
  • Utilizing each workday by prioritizing work tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, or Equivalent
  • Past Experience with a Customer Relationship Management Software (Blackbaud, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Ability to Communicate well with others
  • Knowledge of a modern office methods, equipment and software.
  • Excellent secretarial skills.
  • Must be willing to accept and meet the Scouting America leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law. A Scouting background is helpful but not required.
