Filling Operator – Cosmetic Manufacturing Jobs in Randburg at Africology
Purpose of the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Filling Operator to take charge of the end-to-end filling and packaging process within our cosmetic manufacturing plant. This role is primarily focused on setting up, operating, and maintaining filling line machinery to ensure accurate, efficient, and hygienic filling of finished cosmetic products into bottles, jars, and tubes. The role plays a critical part in meeting production targets while upholding GMP, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:Filling Line Operation:
Set up, calibrate, and operate manual, semi-automatic, and automatic filling equipment.
Adjust machine settings for different product viscosities, fill volumes, and container types.
Ensure smooth operation of the line including capping, sealing, labelling, and packing processes.
Conduct start-up checks, line clearance, and in-process quality checks to avoid contamination or misfills.
Monitor fill accuracy, detect under- or over-filled units, and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
Maintain proper product flow and prevent downtime by resolving line stoppages promptly.
Packaging & Quality Assurance:
Inspect packaging materials and containers for cleanliness, defects, and proper labelling.
Verify batch codes, expiry dates, and packaging specifications against batch documentation.
Remove and report any defective units or non-conforming product immediately.
Support post-filling cleaning and sanitation of equipment in compliance with hygiene standards.
Production Support:
Assist in upstream processes when required, including raw material dispensing and bulk batch compounding.
Ensure accurate and timely batch documentation for traceability and audit compliance.
Adhere strictly to GMP, safety protocols, and SOPs throughout all filling activities.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of cross-contamination risks.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science (Essential).
A certificate in Cosmetic Manufacturing, Production Technology, or Chemical Operations is advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience operating filling and packaging equipment in a cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or personal care environment.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of filling machinery, product handling, and line efficiency.
Good mechanical aptitude to identify and resolve minor mechanical issues.
Excellent attention to detail, especially in monitoring fill accuracy and packaging quality.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards.
Ability to follow written batch records, fill logs, and SOPs with accuracy.
Physically fit – capable of standing for long periods, lifting moderate loads, and working in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
Team player with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently when needed.

Pay: R5 000,00 – R10 000,00 per month
