In support of IMSAf’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for a Field Service Engineer in the Aftersales Department.

The Field Service Engineer provides helpdesk and on-site product technical assistance and support to Dealers, Service Managers and supports the IMSAf Customer Care department. The prime focus of this position is to resolve vehicle technical issues, which covers the application, service, maintenance and product support of Isuzu commercial vehicles.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum requirement of Trade tested & qualified as an automotive mechanic (petrol or diesel & electrical).
National diploma in Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
Minimum experience of 7 years advanced experience in the mechanical, electrical & diagnostic field of Automotive Engineering.
Basic workshop operations ( best practices)
The use and interpretation of electronic fault finding and measuring equipment used in the workshop environment (digital-meter, Tech2, G-IDSS, oscilloscopes and CAN Bus analysis
Well-developed PC skills – Windows operating systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) and the Isuzu diagnostic software (G-IDSS)
Valid driver’s license (minimum EB but EC preferred).
Must be able and prepared to work overtime when required.
Able to travel on short notice in order the provide dealer assistance when required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a single point contact for Isuzu Dealer service departments for onsite technical assistance.
Provide support (specifications and other information) to the Isuzu Dealer network.
Assist Customer Call Centre with technical information when they need to respond to customer enquiries.
Assist & guide the Dealer to resolve technical problems on vehicles where the Dealer is unable to resolve the issue themselves.
Provide daily telephonic and electronic diagnostic & technical support to the Dealer network.
Document & record all decisions, while ensuring that the person responsible for the specific dealer remains appraised of the situation.
Undertake detailed analysis of failures to establish root cause .
Work with Engineering & Reliability to share information and to obtain guidance.
Engage with the Isuzu Dealer network to monitor their technician diagnostic skills and report short comings to management with proposed corrective action.
Monitor product technical issues and assist with the resolution action process.
Assist the Dealer network to efficiently resolve any technical issues and by teaching technical & diagnostic skills to dealer technicians.
Manage the escalation process of technical issues to ensure the required action is taken to resolve any technical issues.
Undertake detailed analysis of product safety issues and compile & share detailed reports to the responsible departments.
Compile detailed reports for review by management on aspects relating to technical, product, safety, diagnostic and dealer workshop technical issues.
Prepare Aftersales technical and product related bulletins.
