Introduction
A prestigious safari operation in Mossel Bay, Western Cape is seeking a passionate and experienced Field Guide to join its professional team. This exciting opportunity is perfect for a guide who is passionate about wildlife, conservation, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting informative and engaging game drives, sharing their knowledge of the natural environment, and creating unforgettable wildlife encounters for guests.
As a key ambassador for the reserve, you will play an important role in ensuring the highest standards of guest satisfaction, safety, and hospitality. You will have the opportunity to showcase the region’s unique wildlife, ecology, and conservation initiatives while providing guests with memorable and educational safari experiences.
Working alongside a dedicated team of hospitality and conservation professionals, this role offers fantastic exposure to both local and international guests. It is ideally suited to an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to build a long-term career in the safari industry. If you thrive in an outdoor environment, enjoy meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and have a genuine passion for nature and wildlife, this could be the perfect next step in your guiding career.
Job Requirements
- FGASA NQF2 Nature Site Guide qualification (minimum requirement)
- Valid guiding qualifications and relevant certifications
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Valid Driver’s Licence and PDP preferred
- Strong wildlife knowledge and tracking skills
- Experience conducting professional game drives and guided bush experiences
- Excellent guest interaction, hosting, and communication skills
- Passion for conservation and environmental education
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional appearance and commitment to high service standards
- Sound understanding of wildlife behaviour and ecology
- Ability to create engaging, educational, and memorable guest experiences
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and passion for the safari industry
Package
- Salary: R13,000 – R17,000 per month
- Live-in position
