INTRODUCTION COEGA BIOMASS CENTRE
Coega Biomass Centre (CBC) is an industrial-scale pellet factory based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). CBC produces wood pellets used as sustainable and renewable fuels in South Africa and Europe. Pellet production started in March 2024.
The pellets are made from Alien Invasive Trees and forestry and sawmill residues. All feedstock material is 100% FSC certified.
Our pellets are also SBP-certified and comply with the latest EU legislation.
ROLE DELIVERABLES
Position Description:
We seek a dedicated forester tojoin our teamand contribute to planning, identifying, operationalizing, monitoring, and managing harvesting areas and feedstock supply to CBC.
In this role, you will be working closely with our feedstock supply manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect operations regularly to engage with group members and contractors and audit compliance with Coega Biomass’ FSC and Management procedures.
Plan field operations with group members and contractors.
Prepare and monitor Pre-harvest plans and checklists.
Ensure that Operational checklists are developed and implemented.
Ensure that post-harvesting checklists and action lists are completed.
Ensure that weeding follow-up planning is implemented.
Follow up and liaise with theSustainabilityManager on closing audit non-compliances.
Involvements in tactical operational planning coordinating with the Feedstock Manager.
Scheduling of operational transport.
Partake in internal and 3rd party audits.
Development of skills to operate ArcGIS and Mobile Data Collection applications.
Regular engagement with landowners (FSC group members) and external stakeholders to address and resolve concerns, grievances, and comments.
Act as a liaison between the other Coega Biomass departments and external feedstock supply stakeholders.
EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A national diploma in forestry or related qualification is required.
A minimum of four years of relevant experience, experience in FSC and GIS will be beneficial.
Valid driver’s license.
Willing to relocate to Gqeberha.

Salary: R35 000 to R40 000 per month, CTC and commensurate with experience.
