We are looking for an experienced Exploration Drilling Foreman.
Requirements:
 Competent A
 Min of 5 years’ experience on an exploration drill set up, compulsory.
 Completion of an accredited drilling course, such as the Drill Rig Operators Course (Unit Standard No:
244477, NQF Level
3).
 Strata Control 2
 Blasting Certificate will be an advantage.
 Knowledge of YZ 42 exploration drill will be an advantage.
 Occupational certificates and
safety training
to comply with industry regulations.
A drill foreman plays a crucial role in overseeing drilling operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance
with industry standards. Their key responsibilities include:
– Supervising Drilling Crews – Managing and coordinating the team to ensure smooth operations.
– Ensuring Safety Compliance – Implementing and enforcing
safety protocols
to minimize risks.
– Monitoring Drilling Progress – Tracking performance and adjusting as needed.

Equipment Maintenance
– Overseeing the upkeep and troubleshooting of drilling machinery.

Collaboration
with Engineers & Geologists – Working with specialists to optimize drilling
strategies.
– Managing Inventory & Supplies – Ensuring necessary materials are available for operations.
1. Technical Skills
– Drilling
Equipment Operation
– Understanding how to set up, operate, and maintain drilling rigs.
– Geological Knowledge – Recognizing different rock formations and adjusting drilling techniques
accordingly.
– Mechanical Skills – Ability to troubleshoot and repair drilling machinery.
2. Safety & Compliance
– Occupational Health & Safety – Following industry regulations to prevent accidents.
– Hazard Identification – Recognizing risks such as unstable ground or equipment malfunctions.
– Emergency Response – Knowing how to handle unexpected situations, including equipment failures
or injuries.
