Experienced Underground Utility Laborer Jobs in Lees Summit, MO at Caruthers Electrical
Caruthers Electrical LLC is hiring an experienced Dirt Worker to join our underground electrical team.
This is not an entry-level general labor position. We are looking for someone who understands underground construction, knows how to work safely and efficiently around excavation equipment, and can help an operator install electrical PVC correctly the first time.
The right person takes pride in a clean trench, proper conduit installation, strong production, and being someone the crew can count on every day.
Pay
Up to $30.00 per hour, based on underground utility experience, skill level, reliability, and job performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist the equipment operator with underground electrical installations
- Lay, connect, glue, and secure PVC conduit
- Maintain proper conduit spacing, depth, alignment, and elevation
- Help prepare trenches and conduit routes
- Use shovels and hand tools to clean, shape, and level trenches
- Install sweeps, risers, stub-ups, spacers, and fittings
- Assist with measuring and planning underground conduit runs
- Help with backfilling and jobsite cleanup
- Protect existing utilities, structures, and completed work
- Load, unload, organize, and maintain underground materials
- Communicate clearly with the operator and crew leader
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work area
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 2 years of dirt work, excavation, underground utility, or related construction experience
- Experience working around excavators, skid steers, trenchers, or similar equipment
- Ability to understand trench depth, grade, measurements, and conduit routing
- Comfortable installing and handling electrical PVC conduit
- Able to perform physically demanding outdoor work
- Able to lift and carry construction materials safely
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Strong work ethic and ability to maintain a productive pace
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and crew-leader instructions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a two-person or small underground crew
Preferred Experience
Applicants with experience in any of the following will receive priority consideration:
- Underground electrical construction
- Residential electrical service installations
- Utility trenching
- PVC conduit installation
- Electrical service laterals
- Transformer and meter conduit installations
- Reading site plans or electrical utility plans
- Working alongside an excavator or skid-steer operator
