Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Experienced Automotive Mechanic and Smog Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone passionate about automotive repair, with a strong background in diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and emissions testing. As a key member of our service department, you will perform comprehensive vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance to ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of vehicles, including light-duty cars and heavy equipment, utilizing your technical skills to keep our customers safely on the road.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough diagnostics using advanced automotive electrical systems, schematics, and power tools to identify issues accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, wheel alignments, shocks & struts replacement, and brake repairs to keep vehicles running smoothly.
- Repair complex mechanical systems including transmissions, powertrains, suspension systems, and diesel engines utilizing hand tools and welding equipment.
- Execute specialized repairs such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration, air brake systems, and heavy equipment mechanics when necessary.
- Complete emissions testing and smog inspections in accordance with state regulations to ensure vehicle compliance.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics for precise repairs on diverse vehicle makes including GM vehicles and other brands.
- Maintain detailed service records, provide accurate auto estimating, and communicate repair findings clearly to customers with excellent customer service skills.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in the automotive repair industry with dealership or independent shop background preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive electrical systems, mechanical repair techniques, and diagnostic procedures.
- Hands-on experience with ADAS calibration, diesel engine repair, transmission overhaul, suspension system repair, and brake system servicing.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and automotive diagnostic software.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including oil changes, wheel alignments, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, and powertrain maintenance.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently.
- Valid ASE certifications or equivalent technical training preferred; experience working with GM vehicles is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude; ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.

Pay: $28.00 – $40.00 per hour
