Our client is a leading environmental consultancy dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable solutions for a healthier planet. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Environmental Land Contamination Technician to join their dynamic team.
About the Role:
As an Environmental Land Contamination Technician, you will play a crucial role in projects and working on sites across the Western Cape and beyond.
Your responsibilities will include:
Site Investigations: Conducting comprehensive site assessments, including soil and groundwater sampling, geological logging, and data collection.
Fieldwork: Operating and maintaining specialist equipment for environmental monitoring and remediation activities.
Data Management: Accurate recording, organization, and preliminary analysis of field data.
Health & Safety: Adhering to strict health and safety protocols on all project sites.
Reporting Support: Assisting senior consultants with report writing and data interpretation.
Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Ensuring all field equipment is calibrated and well-maintained.
What We’re Looking For:
A relevant qualification in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field (Diploma or Degree preferred).
Proven experience (1-2 years) in contaminated land assessment, remediation, and fieldwork.
Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and guidelines (South African environmental laws).
Proficiency in soil and groundwater sampling techniques.
Strong practical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various project sites.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions and potentially challenging site environments.
