Job Description
Clean Space Environmental is seeking a dependable and professional Environmental Inspector / Testing Technician to join our team. This position involves performing environmental inspections and testing, collecting samples, documenting site conditions, communicating with customers and contractors, and preparing clear and accurate reports.
We are willing to train the right candidate. Previous experience in environmental testing, restoration, construction, industrial hygiene, property inspections, or a related field is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to communicate effectively with homeowners, restoration contractors, property managers, insurance professionals, and commercial clients.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform mold inspections and testing
- Perform asbestos inspections and bulk material sampling
- Perform asbestos air sampling, including air monitoring and clearance-related sampling as assigned
- Perform radon testing
- Perform methamphetamine contamination testing
- Perform lead-based paint testing and sampling
- Perform biohazard-related inspections and environmental testing
- Perform moisture inspections and moisture mapping for water damage and restoration projects
- Use moisture meters and related equipment to document affected building materials and moisture conditions
- Create and maintain clear moisture maps, readings, photographs, and field documentation for restoration projects
- Collect samples using established testing procedures and maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation
- Photograph and document inspection areas and site conditions
- Complete field notes, diagrams, sample logs, moisture logs, and other required documentation
- Prepare clear, professional inspection and testing reports
- Coordinate laboratory submissions and review testing documentation
- Explain testing and inspection procedures to customers in a professional and easy-to-understand manner
- Communicate findings and next steps without providing information outside the scope of the inspection
- Maintain testing equipment, sampling supplies, and field equipment
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable, including respiratory protection and other job-specific protective equipment
- Follow company procedures and applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and industry requirements
- Maintain accurate records for each project from inspection through final reporting
- Travel to residential and commercial properties as assigned
- Must be able to perform manual labor and assist with tasks and duties for our partner company STOP Restoration
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous environmental inspection, restoration, water mitigation, construction, industrial hygiene, asbestos, mold, lead, radon, or related experience preferred
- Experience using moisture meters and performing moisture mapping is a plus
- Existing asbestos, lead, mold, radon, or other environmental certifications are a plus
- No prior environmental testing experience is required for the right candidate — training will be provided
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong writing, documentation, and report-preparation skills
- Ability to accurately document field conditions and testing procedures
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable taking photographs, measurements, moisture readings, notes, and collecting samples
- Comfortable wearing respirators and other PPE when required
- Comfortable working in residential, commercial, industrial, restoration, and occasionally distressed property environments
- Ability to follow established sampling, safety, and chain-of-custody procedures
- Basic computer and technology skills
- Ability to manage multiple inspections and documentation requirements
- Dependable, organized, and punctual
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Environmental inspection requires more than simply collecting samples. Our inspectors are expected to professionally represent Clean Space Environmental, thoroughly document each property, follow established testing and safety protocols, properly utilize PPE when required, and provide clients with accurate and understandable information.
We are looking for someone interested in developing a long-term career in environmental inspection and testing. Relevant experience and existing certifications are preferred, but we are willing to invest in training and development for a motivated candidate with the right attitude, communication skills, writing ability, and attention to detail.
Compensation
$18.00–$21.00 per hour
Starting pay will be based on relevant experience, certifications, training, and qualifications.
