Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage a cross functional engineering team
- Conduct performance reviews, 1:1s, and development conversations
- Support individual growth through mentorship and development plans
- Foster a strong team culture focused on trust, accountability, and performance
Delivery & Execution
- Own delivery of engineering work aligned to product roadmap
- Manage sprint planning, backlog grooming, and prioritisation
- Ensure work is scoped appropriately and delivered on time
- Track team performance metrics such as velocity and throughput
Engineering Quality & Best Practice
- Maintain high standards across code quality, testing, and documentation
- Support sound technical decision making aligned to architecture
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback loops
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps teams
- Resolve dependencies and remove delivery blockers
- Act as an escalation point for technical or team related challenges
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and broader engineering initiatives
Requirements:
Experience
- 5 or more years of software engineering experience
- 1 to 2 years experience in a leadership or mentorship role
- Experience working within agile development environments
- Experience managing both people and delivery
Skills
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle
- Ability to lead and develop high performing teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance technical and delivery responsibilities
- Strong problem solving and decision making capability
Education
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- Equivalent practical experience considered
