Your opportunity:
The Office of Professional & Lifelong Learning (PLL) is a new strategic office supporting academic units across the Faculty to build, market and deliver upskilling and lifelonglearning opportunities. The PLL Office focuses on developing and facilitating high quality programs aimed at supporting the university’s goals of expandinglearning opportunitiesbeyond traditional classroom learning. The Office facilitates the provision of new andinnovativelearning opportunitiesthat leverage the strengths of the Faculty of Arts & Science and that support adult learner development to meet the needs of a changing workforce and evolving and emerging economies.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Employment Specialist is an integral part of the PLL team and serves as a bridge between employers and program participants. The Specialist will work closely with learners to help them secure meaningful employment opportunities. This work will include designing, developing, and delivering job readiness and professional skills programming, and coaching learners. The Specialist will cultivate relationships with new employers (locally and nationally) and maintain strong relationships with existing employers, all the while creating and executing plans to meet each employer’s holistic recruiting needs.

The position will work closely with program partners, such as the Data Sciences Institute (DSI), and will provide guidance to program participants.

Note:
There are two vacancies available with a term to March 2026.

Your responsibilities will include:

Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers

Implementing plans and process improvements for employer engagement activities

Promoting programs and service offerings to internal and/or external contacts

Developing plans that support and enhance career services program visibility

Advising learners on job search, industry research and networking strategies including cover letter, resume and interview preparation

Conducting market research and analysis to uncover employment opportunities

Collating and organizing data for various reports

Liaising with stakeholders to support initiatives

Essential Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or acceptable combination ofeducationand equivalent experience.
