Position: EMBROIDERY DEPARTMENT MANAGER
EMBROIDERY DEPARTMENT MANAGER
– Newlands West Durban
To supervise the process of c end to end from the quoting, sampling, ordering of raw materials, maintenance of machinery and production capacity planning
Take responsibility for hiring of skilled workers and identification of training requirements for staff, with authorisation
Ensure all the safety equipment is in working order and the workers are trained in the safety measures
Uses the appropriate resources to achieve the production plan in terms of productivity, quantity and delivery schedule to ensure on time delivery of quality production.
Supervises Embroidery Department staff to produce the best quality embroidered headwear and scarves
Scheduling of deliveries from Embroidery to the Warehouse or Local CMT production for 100% on time delivery to customers
Analysis and reporting of production data and troubleshooting.
Apply manufacturing systems & tools to improve Safety, Quality and Productivity
Oversees Digitizing to ensure no delay in quoting and sampling process
Sample make up within timeline of 24 hours
Time study and recording of time sheets for digitizing and sampling filed in respective files
Facilitation of day and night shift – handover and reprioritizing of tasks at end of shift
Maintain production flow and delivery of on time orders and is conversant with Planning functions.
Checking and recording the movement of Styles (Caps, Beanies or Scarves) and raw materials to and from the Embroidery Machines
Ensure security of the stock/store and other materials
Facilitate production communication to ensure lead times are tracked and critical path is managed to meet customer delivery date
Communicates with quality auditors and reviews and suggests corrective action to address any issues identified.
Assess order failures to determine whether style should be repaired or scrapped
Ordering of all thread, Vilene, EVA foam, stationery and machine parts to ensure the continued running of the Embroidery Department
Overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all machinery
Signing off on invoices and credit notes for Embroidery Department with Accounts
Effectively communicate and manage internal lead times for costing, quoting, design of artwork, sampling and client approvals
Develop an effective network of communication to ensure shared knowledge and understanding of business activity.
Manages any employee relations issues which may arise, including counselling, discipline and grievance processes, within the framework of applicable labour legislation and company policies
Management of salaries, attendance, absenteeism and leave due for Embroidery Department staff
Working knowledge of embroidery machinery and all related processes
Full understanding of flat & 3D embroidery, patches, appliques and sequencing.
Advanced knowledge of Wilcom & ZSK software
Well-developed relationships with suppliers
Working knowledge of job costings
Ability to supervise factory capacity and production scheduling
Ability to supervise material requirements.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate a team of 50+ staff in a fully unionized environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills
Self-starter – ability to work unsupervised, manage own time and activities
Solid organizational skills
Meticulous attention to detail
