About The Electronic Repair Technician Role
The main function of the electronic repair and technician is to attend to customers equipment repairs and assist senior technicians and support engineers in attending to all day-to-day technical enquiries within the branch, both internal and external and ensure that all assigned customer repair tickets are serviced and closed. The ultimate aims are to ensure adequate technical skills are available within the branch to carry out equipment repairs and ensure that our customers are impressed by our after-sales service.
Role Responsibilities
Technical Support
Attend to customer technical support requests by:
Phone
Any other means (e.g.: Instant messages etc)
Equipment Repair
Attend to customer renewable energy related equipment repair tickets assigned to you
Fault find on various types of electronic equipment and repair back to factory standard, down to component level
Complete necessary tickets in job management systems
Teamwork & Collaboration
Work closely with the other tech support staff around the country:
Collaborate on improving systems.
Help resolve issues in other areas where skills can be shared for common good.
Investigate and document potential serial issues.
Assist R+D department in product specification and development when necessary.
Meet regularly to discuss tech support issues.
Document your activities within the company CRM.
General Skill & Support
Regularly attend supplier training

Any other tasks reasonably delegated to you
You may occasionally be required to carry out other tasks not outlined above on an ad-hoc basis, to achieve the necessary levels of customer service. This may include but is not limited to various sales related functions, managing customers when a rep is absent, resolving telephone queries and so on.
Should the company introduce new methods of working and/or new technology you will be required to co-operate with these changes, adapting to new methods of working and/or technology and undergo training as the company directs.
Required
Role requirements:
NQF5 Electronics qualification (National diploma or equivalent)
Component level repair of electronic equipment (power electronics experience beneficial).
Intimate knowledge of repair techniques and tools for both though-hole and SMT devices
Excellent PCB soldering, de-soldering, and related skills
Proficient in the use of relevant workshop equipment such as Oscilloscopes, solder rework stations, multimeters, EEPROM programmers, various PC software tools for firmware updating etc.
Computer literacy – highly Computer literate and comfortable with basic technical aspects of common operating systems with Microsoft Office general excellence
Own vehicle and driver’s licence.
