PPM Utility Management Solutions is a leading private utilities company committed to providing exceptional service to our customers. We are currently seeking an Electrical & Plumbing Technician to join our team and be for end-users and customers contacting the PPM service desk for emergency or maintenance callouts. Therefore, the Technician performs a crucial role in presenting the company to the outside world and establishing good relationships with customers.
Responsibilities and Duties
● Responds to customer service requests, not limited to: connections, disconnects, rereading meters, checking for leaks, etc. and will be required to respond to emergency callouts
● Be the link between the office and end users on site.
● Assist with site audits to determine installation requirements on both water and electricity meters. (visual inspection only).
● Install water meters in consumer establishments
● Do commissioning of prepayment water and electricity meters and installation of customer interface units as per guidelines and per client specifications. Using manual tools and cordless drilling equipment.
● Provide all feedback to office/management upon completion of site commissioning.
● Explain operational and general information to end users.
● Examine Installations to detect leaks and other issues
● Inform consumers of findings and recommendations
● Replace and repair water meters and accompanying equipment as instructed.
● Assist with all on-site checks as instructed by management as per reporting flags (no sales, low sales).
● Maintain records of work performed and materials used
● Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the service to customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team.
● Represent the company with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
● Flexibility to work shifts as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
● High School Diploma preferred
● Electrical or Plumbing qualification or relevant experience essential
● Valid Driver’s License (Code 8)
● Able to Identify and resolve operational, technical, and procedural problems and communicate effectively verbally
● Able to prepare clear and concise written reports.
● Able to safely operate an assortment of measurement tools and equipment.
● Able to use computers, associated software packages and electronic meter reading equipment.
● Able to safely drive a variety of light duty vehicles.
● Able to read and interpret manuals, specifications and troubleshooting metering equipment.
● Understanding and following oral and written directions.
● Estimating necessary materials and equipment to complete assignments and meet the needs of small to medium sized installations or maintenance projects.
● Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
● Strength and mobility to work in a typical field setting, including operating hand and power tools
● Stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing and working in confined or awkward spaces
● Strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 20 kg with proper equipment
