The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a self-motivated individual to render logistical support with regards to maintenance and development of the Garden by driving vehicles and providing general support services.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Grade 10 job-specific qualification or equivalent qualification with NQF2 with 4 years experience of driving a heavy motor vehicle, and driver license (EC) with professional driving permit (PDP), or 3 years work experience of driving a heavy motor vehicle with a Grade 12 job-specific qualification with NQF
4. A higher education qualification/Diploma or equivalent at NQF5 will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position:
Transport staff to and from work and work weekends, including sleep-in duties.
Drive the refuse removal truck or tractor, assisting with loading or offloading of material.
Ensure own safety and that of passengers.
Collect and sort recyclable materials from various collection sites to the recycling bins at the recycling station.
Operate vehicles on and outside premises and collect materials for orders.
Transport passengers and goods.
Conduct routine maintenance and garaging of vehicles, reporting all findings immediately to the supervisor.
Perform daily vehicle inspections, checking warning lights, oil, water, and fuel, and report findings to the supervisor.
Mow lawns and assist machine operators with brush cutting of grass when requested.
Work outside premises during exhibitions, displays, and plant collecting trips.
Load and offload plant material and equipment.
Assist in wildfire fighting and other emergencies.
Operate TLB and drive trucks.
Assist in the production of mulch compost and wood chips, and report pests and diseases when executing daily tasks.
Comply with traffic rules and drive in a safe manner, adhering to safety and security measures when using SANBI vehicles.
Perform standby and sleep-in duty as well as work weekends according to the roster.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
Transportation of people, goods, and material.
Participate in conservation maintenance of the estate.
Ensure resource management.
Provide customer service and support health and safety services.
