Full Job Description
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for castings, patterns, cores, and tooling using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.).
Interpret and translate design specifications, customer drawings, and technical standards into foundry-ready documentation.
Modify existing drawings based on feedback from sales technicians, engineers, quality control, or production teams.
Drawing of 3D Models to determine weight calculations and drawing correctness before quoting together with proposals
Creation of contraction drawings and including machining allowance and draw tapper for pattern shop to use on the CNC Machine
Creating production drawings from customers supplied drawings, sketches, photos or samples (measured parts) supplied by sales, pattern shop or measured / reverse engineered and would apply to new drawings and issuing of drawings
Revising drawings on request
Any required R&D work, mill designs and Mill tray program
Determine weight discrepancies and help with any discrepancies that may arise
Collaborate with patternmakers, metallurgists, and production staff to ensure drawings meet manufacturing feasibility and foundry process requirements.
Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, tolerances, and material specifications.
Maintain a drawing library and ensure document control of all technical drawings.
Assist in reverse engineering of components where original drawings are unavailable.
Liaise with clients or project engineers to clarify technical specifications and resolve design issues.
Provide support during tooling and prototype trials and make necessary drawing adjustments
Issuing production drawings to pattern shop and inspection after confirming correct revision numbers or drawing to what is required
Issuing by replacing all current drawings by laminating for inspection or machine shop
