We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Dispatcher to join our transportation operations team. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to optimize routes and delivery times
- Communicate with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems, phone call management, and internal communication channels to relay instructions and updates
- Monitor GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, analyze routes, and adjust plans as needed for efficiency
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, safety standards, and company policies during all dispatch activities
- Train drivers on the safe and proper use of (flatbed, stepdeck, low boy, dump trailers, and other equipment).
- Inspect fleet readiness for deliveries and pickups
Skills
- CDL Class A REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, logistics, and transportation planning principles
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS technology, and route analysis tools for effective dispatching decisions
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills for phone call management, internal communication, customer service interactions, and team collaboration
- Attention to detail for data entry accuracy and compliance documentation
- Understanding of DOT regulations related to freight transport and vehicle operation standards
- Analysis skills to evaluate route efficiency, freight loads, and operational metrics
- Ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently while maintaining professionalism through phone etiquette
