Globe 24-7, in partnership with a leading international gold mining company, is supporting the appointment of a Director – Project Studies.
This is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for leading the development and delivery of Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies across a global portfolio of mining projects. Working within the Owner's Team, you will lead multidisciplinary study teams, manage EPCM partners and consultants, and support investment decisions on major capital projects from early-stage concept through execution readiness.
The Role
Reporting into the senior project leadership team, you will be responsible for progressing mining projects through the study lifecycle while ensuring robust technical, commercial and governance standards are maintained. The role requires a leader who understands both project development and project execution, with the ability to bridge studies, engineering, construction planning and operational requirements.
The Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of Concept, PFS and FS studies across a global project portfolio.
- Drive multidisciplinary project development activities from concept through execution readiness.
- Lead Owner's Teams and manage EPCM consultants, engineering partners and specialist contractors.
- Develop study strategies, project execution plans and operational readiness approaches.
- Coordinate mining, processing, infrastructure, commercial and operational workstreams.
- Lead project governance, peer reviews and investment approval processes.
- Drive project optimisation across scope, schedule, cost, risk and technical outcomes.
- Support project transition from studies into execution and delivery.
- Mentor and develop technical project teams.
The Requirements
- South African Citizen.
- Degree in Mining Engineering (essential).
- Min 15+ years' experience within the mining industry.
- Demonstrated experience leading Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies.
- Proven experience progressing projects through the full project development lifecycle, from study phase through execution readiness.
- Strong Owner's Team experience with demonstrated EPCM management capability.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary mining project teams across technical, operational and commercial disciplines.
- Strong understanding of project governance, capital allocation and investment decision-making.
- Experience across major capital mining projects within African mining environments is essential.
- Gold project exposure and international mining experience will be highly advantageous.
