POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in East London, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have experience in maintaining and repairing diesel engines, as well as a strong understanding of automotive technology. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our company’s fleet of vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel plant equipment, trucks and fleet and related components
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs
Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
Order and maintain inventory of necessary parts and supplies
Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and timely completion of repairs
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations at all times
Keep up-to-date with advancements in diesel engine technology and techniques
Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members regarding maintenance and repair needs
Assist with other duties as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certificate or diploma in diesel mechanics or related field preferred
Trade tested
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic
SKILLS:
Strong understanding of diesel engine technology and repair techniques
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Good communication and teamwork skills
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
