Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Diesel Mechanic role based in Garden Route. The Diesel Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Daily tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing service records, and coordinating repairs with supervisors. The role also involves conducting safety checks, identifying parts and materials needed for repairs, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. Collaboration with other team members, adherence to safety standards, and timely completion of work orders are essential.
Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Diesel Mechanics, with experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
  • Proficiency in Vehicle Maintenance, including inspections, servicing, and repair of trucks, buses, or similar vehicles.
  • Experience in Equipment Maintenance for heavy equipment, with the ability to work on hydraulics, transmissions, and related components.
  • Ability to plan and execute Preventive Maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Relevant technical certification or trade qualification in diesel mechanics or automotive technology.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in workshop and field environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and repair documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a similar diesel mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance role is highly beneficial.
