Our client is a leading truck rental company and they are looking for an experienced and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join their team and help ensure the smooth operation of their fleet.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services on diesel engines and related components.
Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and machinery to ensure proper operation.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and provide solutions for repair.
Replace faulty components, such as fuel pumps, filters, and turbochargers.
Ensure all repairs comply with safety and regulatory standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Keep accurate records of maintenance work and parts used.
Respond to breakdowns and provide on-site repairs when necessary.
Work effectively with the team to ensure timely vehicle repairs and minimize downtime.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Matric or equivalent
Diesel Mechanic qualification + trade
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with a strong understanding of diesel engine systems
Experience in repairing and maintaining large commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers
Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems
Prior experience in a transport or logistics environment
Willing to work overtime and attend to breakdowns
Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
A valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship
Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
