Overview:
Tenmile Farm Foundation is seeking a full-time delivery driver to transport vegetables, fruit and eggs from our Dover Plains farm to food access programs in Dutchess County and New York City. Tenmile is dedicated to alleviating hunger by producing and donating nutritious farm-fresh food for distribution to food insecure New Yorkers. Join our team as a Delivery Driver and play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to our partners. We are looking for individuals with experience in van driving, commercial driving, and warehouse operations to join our dynamic team.
Delivery Operations
- Operate a 26’ refrigerated box truck and refrigerated Transit van to deliver produce to partner organizations
- Ensure timely and accurate deliveries aligned with partner distribution schedules
- Safely load and unload boxes, bins, and pallets of food
- Maintain food quality and proper temperature control during transport
- Follow all food safety and quality control procedures
- Use navigation and communication tools to manage routes and schedules efficiently
- Coordinate closely with the Wash & Pack Lead and Farm Manager to ensure order accuracy
- Work with the Farm Mechanic to maintain vehicles in safe, working condition
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and records
- Conduct and document daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Operate vehicles in compliance with NYS DOT and federal transportation regulations
- Comply with applicable Hours of Service requirements and maintain logs (as required)
- Willing to perform other duties as needed and work cooperatively with members of the farm team
Wash & Pack Operations
- Processing and organization of harvested crops
- Assist with wash and pack operations and supervise wash and pack facility
- Maintain food safety guidelines and keep accurate records
- Prioritize and manage workload to ensure completion of scheduled activities.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe washing, packing and storage facility and operation.
- Support the farm manager and production crew with field operations as necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record meeting insurance and regulatory standards (CDL preferred but not required)
- Minimum 2 years of experience driving box trucks and delivery vehicles
- Ability to lift and move 50 lb boxes regularly
- Strong reliability, time management, and attention to detail
- Comfortable using navigation tools, inventory systems, and basic software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Must pass DMV and background check
- Familiarity with agricultural and food safety best practices
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour
