Modika Attorneys Inc is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Debt Collection Officer to join our Polokwane office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and recovering outstanding HOA (Homeowners Association) levies accounts, ensuring efficient collection processes while maintaining professional client and debtor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer HOA levies debtors’ accounts from initial demand through to final recovery.

• Issue letters of demand, follow up on outstanding levies, and negotiate payment arrangements.

• Monitor payment plans, process receipts, and update account statuses accurately.

• Prepare and submit necessary legal documentation for debt recovery proceedings where required.

• Maintain accurate records and provide regular progress reports on collection portfolios.

• Liaise with HOA clients, property managers, and internal legal teams.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the National Credit Act and debt collection regulations.

• Handle debtor queries and complaints professionally and promptly.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate (tertiary qualification in Law, Credit Management, or related field advantageous).

• Proven experience in debt collection, preferably within legal, property management, or HOA environments.

• Strong knowledge of debt recovery processes and relevant South African legislation.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

• High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.

• Computer literacy (MS Office, debt collection/accounting software experience preferred).

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.

• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport (advantageous).
