About The Role
The Dealmaker assesses financing applications and structures investments that advance IDC’s unit objectives and industrial-development mandate. The role combines due diligence, deal structuring, risk assessment, credit-proposal preparation and account management through first drawdown.
Key responsibilities
Evaluate and structure transactions using IDC financing instruments
Conduct financial, technical and marketing due diligence
Design and negotiate financial, legal, commercial and environmental transaction terms
Identify and mitigate transaction risks
Participate in multidisciplinary due-diligence teams
Optimise transactions against IDC and industry-development objectives
Manage approved transactions through first drawdown
Prepare preliminary assessments and comprehensive credit proposals
Maintain accurate client and transaction data
Manage relationships with applicants and portfolio clients
Coordinate transaction requirements with IDC departments
Mentor and coach Business Analysts
Key requirements
Relevant commercial qualification, CA qualification or technical Honours degree
Between five and eight years of relevant experience
Approximately two to three years in transaction assessment and closing
Competence in at least two of the financial, technical or marketing due-diligence disciplines
Strong grounding in at least one due-diligence discipline
Financial-statement interpretation experience
Financial acumen, deal-structuring and risk-mitigation skills
Investment or portfolio-management knowledge
Strong planning, report-writing, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
Nice to have
Sector-specific knowledge
Knowledge of IDC financial products
