A leading global agricultural company is seeking a talented individual who has specialized in Bioinformatics with a strong background in Plant Science / Plant Genetics.
Johannesburg | Permanent | R30 000 to R40 000 Basic pm
This is a junior role and the ideal candidate will be either a new graduate or has less than 2 years experience.
As part of the molecular biology team, you will be responsible for the analysis of large datasets and the development of bioinformatic pipelines. Your contribution to the team will ensure that the research team is able to develop products that satisfy the needs of customers across the region and beyond.
What will you do?
Work closely with the Laboratory Project Managers in the marker discovery process.
Write scripts in R, Python, and Bash to process and analyze large data sets.
Develop and apply computational tools to support breeding programmes.
Requirements :
Master’s Degree specializing in Bioinformatics.
Background in Plant Science (ESSENTIAL).
Good level of English, both written and spoken.
Good sense of service and ability to meet deadlines.
The ability to handle and analyze large data sets; proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, and Bash.
Own vehicle.
Fast learner and comfortable taking initiative.
Team player who communicates and collaborates easily within the team and with other departments.
