A great opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join one of the world's leading technology businesses in the online gaming industry, building the cloud-native data platform that powers analytics, AI/ML and commercial reporting across a global operation.
You'll design high-performance SQL data models, build modern ELT pipelines, and take ownership of large-scale data platforms using Snowflake, Python, dbt and AWS.
This Senior Data Engineer position is based in Cape Town or Durban offering R1.4M per annum.

THE ROLE
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll take ownership of one or more data domains, designing, building and operating the cloud-native data platform that powers analytics, AI/ML, experimentation and commercial reporting across a global technology business.
Working with SQL, Snowflake, Python, dbt and AWS, you'll design scalable ETL pipelines, build curated data products and define the data models that enable reliable, high-quality insights across the organisation. SQL is at the heart of the role, with a strong focus on designing performant data models, optimising complex transformations and driving Snowflake performance and cost efficiency.
You'll also establish best practices for data quality, observability and engineering standards, working closely with Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers, Platform Engineers and Software Engineers to deliver scalable, production-ready data solutions.
THE REQUIREMENTS
5+ years' commercial Data Engineering experience
Expert SQL with proven experience designing, optimising and tuning complex SQL solutions
Strong Python development experience
Commercial experience building ELT pipelines
Extensive Snowflake experience, including performance tuning and query optimisation
Advanced dbt experience
AWS (or Azure) cloud experience
CI/CD, Git and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow
Experience implementing data quality and observability frameworks
Proven experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical standards
