Cyber Security & Firewall Administrator
– Gauteng Based (Hybrid)
Our client located in
Johannesburg
is seeking an experienced
Security and Firewall Administrator
to join their team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimising our network security infrastructure, with a focus on firewall management and security monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Configure, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls (Fortigate/Palo Alto)
Implement and manage security policies, rules, and access controls
Monitor network traffic and security alerts for potential threats
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
Document network security configurations and changes
Provide after-hours support on a rotational basis when required
Collaborate with IT teams on security implementations and incident response
Maintain security compliance standards and best practices
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years experience in network security administration
Professional certification in firewall administration (PCNSA, NSE4, or equivalent)
CompTIA Network+ certification
Ethical Hacking certification (CEH or CompTIA Pen Test+)
Strong experience with Fortigate or Palo Alto firewall platforms
Solid understanding of networking protocols and security concepts
Experience with VPN configurations and management
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of SIEM tools and log analysis
Experience with IDS/IPS systems
Understanding of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, PCI DSS)
Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages
Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure)
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills in English
