Role Overview
A rapidly growing, international accounting and tax software company specialising in automated accounting solutions is seeking a Customer Support – Accounting candidate to join their fully remote South African team.
This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your technical accounting knowledge in a client-facing software environment and drive user success across global markets. In this role, you will provide specialized technical support to software clients using your accounting background.
Reporting to the Customer Success Manager, you will take full ownership of the reactive platform and accounting support load for the EMEA and Americas regions. Working from 10:00 to 19:00 SAST to align with international client business hours, you will resolve complex user queries, manage ticket workflows, and help scale the support function as the business expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to inbound support tickets via helpdesk channels promptly, professionally, and with a clear audit trail.
- Investigate and resolve software platform and technical accounting queries regarding fixed-asset depreciation methods and tax rules.
- Guide global subscribers through lease accounting workflows and general ledger integrations across major cloud accounting systems.
- Coordinate with the solutions engineering and product teams to escalate complex technical domain queries or log verified software bugs.
- Support new subscribers through the onboarding process to drive platform adoption and user confidence.
- Maintain and update the external knowledge base, help articles, and internal support documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- BCom degree or relevant accounting qualification with 4–6 years of bookkeeping or practical accounting experience.
- Deep understanding of fixed-asset accounting, general ledger and depreciation concepts, including straight-line and diminishing value methods.
- Practical proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Experience working within a customer support, helpdesk, or client-services environment, ideally within a SaaS or fintech company.
- Knowledge of tax depreciation rules within South African SARS, or exposure to international jurisdictions like UK HMRC, US IRS, or Canada CCA.
- Familiarity with lease accounting concepts under IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) 16 or ASC (Accounting Standards Codification) 842.
- Previous experience using helpdesk ticket systems like Freshdesk or Zendesk, and issue-tracking tools like Microsoft DevOps.
