A leading South African precious metals refinery, renowned for adding value to locally sourced materials, has a vacancy for an experienced Customer Account Manager based in Cape Town. This role focuses on managing sales and administration of metals, castings, findings, and refining for a portfolio of external clients, with a focus on expanding both customer and supplier networks. The position requires regular travel and a valid driver’s license, and it is ideally suited for a qualified goldsmith with a proven sales track record or an individual with strong sales expertise in the jewelry industry.

Requirements:

Qualified Goldsmith with a proven track record in a sales environment or Jewelry Industry.

Minimum 5 years’ technical experience as qualified goldsmith or Jewelry Industry underpinned by proven sales experience.

Extensive knowledge of the industry.

Advanced Computer Skills, particularly with Microsoft Office packages

Excellent Written Communication Skills

Excellent Telephone Skills

Own vehicle and valid Driver’s License.

Willingness to travel extensively and work from various client locations as needed.

Willingness to undergo a polygraph or lie detector test as part of the pre-employment screening process.

Duties:

Sales of metal, castings, findings, and refining for a portfolio of external clients.

Maintaining and communicating with existing clients to improve relationships and increase sales.

Assisting existing clients with business development, including ensuring clients renew permits and have solid business plans or direction.

Advising and assisting clients with various aspects of their jewelry designs, manufacture, and related activities.

Promoting specials and new product offerings to the client base.

Promoting the sale of wealth products to the portfolio of clients.

Proactively managing the debtors’ book.

Handling administration related to the client portfolio, including statements, credit notes, refining results, and invoices.

Ensuring and maintaining data integrity of the client portfolio.

Assisting in the preparation of annual sales budgets.

Monitoring monthly sales activity against set budgets and reporting variances.

Generating new leads to acquire new clients.

Conducting market intelligence regarding the industry and competitors.

Assisting drivers in the planning of routes and deliveries.

Performing ad hoc deliveries and ensuring security measures are in place for the deliveries.

Preparing monthly reports on activities within the industry and maintaining meticulous records of all client visits and phone calls.

Perform other duties as required by the business, even if not specifically listed in the job description.
