Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Custodian to join our facilities team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our premises. Your efforts will ensure that all areas are hygienic, well-organized, and compliant with safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and committed to providing excellent custodial services that support the overall functionality of our facility.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of floors, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures and safety protocols.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including trash removal, dusting, window washing, and surface sanitization to uphold high sanitation standards.
- Operate various custodial tools and equipment efficiently while adhering to safe lifting practices and manual handling guidelines.
- Assist with light maintenance duties such as minor repairs or painting to support facility upkeep.
- Follow established health and safety regulations to create a secure environment for staff and visitors alike.
- Respond promptly to cleaning requests or issues raised by staff or visitors, ensuring customer service is friendly and professional.
Requirements
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience in commercial or residential settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation procedures, and the proper use of cleaning equipment.
- Ability to handle chemical agents safely while following all chemical handling safety procedures.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks involved in cleaning routines.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and respond effectively to requests.
- Basic facilities maintenance knowledge or porter experience is a plus but not mandatory.
