Phungela is seeking a Creative Director to lead creative strategy and execution within the Digital Practice.
This role defines and drives the creative vision across integrated digital campaigns, ensuring high-impact storytelling, brand excellence and measurable performance outcomes.
Role Purpose
To conceptualise, direct and oversee integrated creative output across digital platforms, ensuring work is strategically aligned, innovative and commercially effective.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreative Leadership
- Lead creative strategy across integrated digital campaigns
- Translate strategic briefs into compelling multi-platform concepts
- Define creative direction and ensure consistency across all outputs
- Elevate the overall creative standard of the Digital Practice
Campaign Development
- Oversee content development across social, video, display and digital channels
- Guide art direction, copy, design and production teams
- Ensure all creative work aligns to brand guidelines and campaign objectives
- Drive innovative storytelling and audience engagement
Collaboration & Integration
- Collaborate with Account and Performance teams to ensure creative effectiveness
- Incorporate performance data into creative optimisation
- Lead creative presentations and stakeholder engagements
- Ensure alignment between strategy, creative and execution
Quality & Governance
- Review and approve all major creative outputs
- Maintain consistency across integrated campaign assets
- Ensure deadlines, quality standards and production timelines are met
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Advertising, Marketing or related field
- Additional certifications in Creative Strategy, Brand Leadership or Digital Marketing advantageous
Experience & Skills
- 7+ years’ experience in digital creative leadership
- Proven track record delivering integrated digital campaigns
- Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual and execution excellence
- Experience leading multidisciplinary creative teams
- Deep understanding of digital platform behaviours and content trends
- Strong leadership, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to align creative to measurable outcomes
