PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of the Costing Analyst role is to optimise cost, quality, and efficiency of operations and operational infrastructure projects. The Costing Analyst will:

Drive value creation from suppliers and contractors;
Work with the finance team to develop operating infrastructure capex and operating expenditure budgets;
Negotiate contract terms with suppliers and contractors;
Carry out monthly financial reviews of actual costs incurred against budgets and updated forecasts;
Develop and maintain price lists for recuring capex and opex items/services procured;
Assist asset owners with review of quotes and costing, and negotiation with service providers to improve pricing where required;
Monitor and manage performance of suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with contracts;
Manage any contract variations;
Negotiate final accounts with suppliers and contractors

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Drive value creation from suppliers and subcontractors: Work closely with the Project Costing Manager and operations and operational infrastructure project management teams to drive value creation for Teraco by managing pricing and commercial terms with suppliers and contractors on operations, non-standard client solution projects and operational infrastructure projects from design stage through to final completion. Manage purchase orders, payment terms, delivery dates and payment approvals.

Budgeting: Assist project managers to prepare project cost analysis based on conceptual designs, drawings, engineering estimates and labour required. Work with the operations, solutions and operational infrastructure project management teams to get cost plans approved and to track actual vs budgeted spending. Control all stages of projects within predetermined budget and expenditure. Manage project related cash flows. Report monthly to the Project Costing Manager and Head of Finance on actual costs incurred against budgets and updated forecasts.

Negotiate contract terms with suppliers and contractors: Where applicable, assist project managers with preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities. Evaluate tenders from contractors and negotiate pricing and terms. Review quotes and provide input to the operations, solution and operational infrastructure project teams. Where required, negotiate final quotes and final accounts once work is completed with suppliers and contractors. Create and maintain a database of approved rates and costs to reference all new procurement against.

Monitor and manage performance of suppliers and subcontractors: Communicate regularly with operations and operational infrastructure project staff and contractors to ensure commercial controls are in place and contractors are delivering on time and in accordance with agreed terms. Monitor all commercial information in relation to operational infrastructure projects including labour and materials to ensure budgets are adhered to. Manage any contract variations. Produce accurate formal reports to monitor contract management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

B Com / B.Sc Quantity Surveying qualification
Minimum 3 years relevant experience
