Cosmetics Packaging Technologist Jobs in Pretoria, South Africa at Watershed Consulting
Overview : Responsible for inputting, coordinating and managing of packaging development from receipt of the brief to launch. To provide technical assistance to Marketing, QA and the customers and deliver projects within the agreed timeframe.
Duties :
Sourcing of ideas / concepts for new developments specific to cosmetic packaging and presenting these to marketing and sales.
Monitor trends and meet with customers to showcase new packaging innovation.
Project planning to ensure compliance with the agreed timelines.
Provide team with recommendations of feasibility for project progressing to the next stage.
Obtain accurate and complete component specifications from suppliers (including material composition and dimensional drawings).
Run trials to check packaging for suitability, compatibility and performance under various conditions; this could include material checks, external laboratory evaluation as well as dimensional checks.
Assess current packaging materials and look for opportunities to improve on cost and efficiencies.
Ensuring that all labelling is reviewed and that it meets regulatory requirements.
Keeping abreast of new regulations pertaining to cosmetics packaging.
Qualifications :
Matric with maths and chemistry.
ND Packaging (min requirement) and/or degree with packaging qualification.
Cosmetic Packaging Technology – 5 years’ experience (print, plastics and glass).
Established relationships with packaging suppliers.
Knowledge and experience in collaborating with graphic designers.
Packaging problem solving skills in a factory environment.
Liaise with customers and suppliers on packaging related challenges and technical requirements.
