Remuneration
The position offers a remuneration bracket of R15,000 – R25,000 per month, cost to company and is based on the candidate's qualifications and experience so assessed by the company at the company's discretion.
About the role
Rain Natural Skincare is looking for a diligent, practical and detail-oriented Quality Controller to join our factory team.
The Quality Controller will support quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the manufacturing and packing process. The successful candidate will help ensure that our products, processes and records consistently meet Rain’s internal quality standards, our ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements, GMP, and applicable health and safety requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes ownership, works accurately and is comfortable spending time both on the factory floor and completing the documentation required to support an effective Quality Management System.
Key responsibilities
The Quality Controller will be responsible for:
- Conducting in-process and finished-product quality control checks.
- Verifying that bulk products and filled products meet the required specifications, including laboratory test results, appearance, fill quantities and other defined quality parameters.
- Ensuring that products that do not meet the required quality standards are identified, isolated and prevented from being released.
- Reviewing completed manufacturing and production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Filing and maintaining quality records electronically and in hard copy, where required.
- Investigating non-conformances, recording findings and assisting with the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Monitoring recurring quality issues and supporting improvements aimed at preventing their recurrence.
- Maintaining records relating to equipment calibration, servicing, staff training, competency and other Quality Management System requirements.
- Monitoring raw material, packaging and finished-product expiry dates and communicating relevant information to the appropriate teams.
- Coordinating the handling and documentation of expired, damaged, recalled or quality-affected stock.
- Monitoring housekeeping, hygiene and general orderliness within the factory.
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of quality-control procedures and production processes.
- Assisting with quality-related investigations, improvement projects and future operational objectives.
- Supporting compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including PPE checks, safety records, staff awareness and the maintenance of a safe working environment.
- Communicating quality concerns clearly and promptly to production staff and management.
Minimum requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, cosmetic science, chemical or industrial engineering, quality management or a related scientific field.
- Good understanding of quality-control principles and document management.
- Strong computer literacy, including confidence working with spreadsheets and electronic records.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies or incomplete information.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production and management teams.
