Responsibilities
Food preparation: Chop, mix, and prepare ingredients for entrees, sauces, and side dishes
Cooking: Cook menu items to order, ensuring they are served at the correct temperature and presented well
Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized station, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out the trash
Time management: Know how long each step of food preparation takes and prioritize orders during busy times
Quality control: Ensure dishes are prepared consistently and meet the restaurant’s standards
Food safety: Monitor food safety, inspect supplies and equipment, and comply with sanitation guidelines
Inventory and waste disposal: Manage the kitchen’s inventory and waste disposal
Training: Train other kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking, and cleaning
Skills
Strong time management skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work well in a team and stay calm under pressure
Knowledge of flavors, textures, and cooking methods
Requirements
Previous experience advantageous
Qualification in hospitality is advantageous
Own transport
Able to work long hours
