Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals following established recipes, dietary guidelines, and menu plans
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, braising pans, poaching tools, and food processors safely and efficiently
- Ensure all food handling procedures adhere to strict food safety and sanitizing protocols to prevent contamination
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new dishes and adjusting recipes for dietary needs or special occasions
- Maintain high-volume food production standards while ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
- Support dietary department operations by preparing specialized meals for residents or clients with specific dietary restrictions
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal service and uphold quality standards during busy periods
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or catering environment, with a focus on fine dining or high-volume production
- Strong knowledge of food safety management practices, including sanitizing procedures and safe food handling techniques
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in cooking methods such as grilling, braising, poaching, and meal assembly
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment confidently and efficiently while maintaining safety standards
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and culinary innovation to enhance meal offerings
- Background in dietary aide roles or dietary department experience is highly desirable
- Exceptional attention to detail in food production, serving, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen environment
