Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Conveyancer to join its Corporate & Commercial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for handling conveyancing matters relating to asset re-organisations, acquisitions, and disposals where immovable property is involved, managing transactions from instruction through to registration.

 

Key Responsibilities

Conveyancing and Transaction Management

  • Manage the full conveyancing process from instruction to registration in the Deeds Office
  • Draft and prepare all required transfer documentation
  • Obtain rates clearance certificates, levy clearances, and compliance certificates
  • Liaise with SARS regarding transfer duty submissions and related communications
  • Attend to bond registrations for private clients and transactions
  • Manage bond cancellations and guarantees

Deeds Office Processes

  • Prepare lodgment files and oversee the lodgment process
  • Attend to Deeds Office queries, rectifications, and re-lodgments

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with buyers, sellers, estate agents, financial institutions, and other stakeholders
  • Provide clients with regular updates on transaction progress

Financial and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Calculate pro-rata rates, levies, occupational interest, and other adjustments
  • Prepare quotations, invoices, and final statements of account
  • Finalise financial matters upon registration

Supervision and Support

  • Supervise conveyancing secretaries where applicable
  • Support estate transfers and asset re-organisation transactions in terms of the Income Tax Act

 

Additional Duties

  • Travel between offices when required to attend to conveyancing matters

 

Minimum Requirements

  • LLB Degree
  • Admitted Attorney and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa
  • In good standing with the Legal Practice Council
  • 4–6 years post-admission conveyancing experience
  • Strong knowledge of Deeds Office procedures
  • Experience using Lexis Convey / LexisNexis systems
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Admission as a Notary Public would be advantageous
