Key Responsibilities

As a Controls and Instrumentation Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing instrumentation across all Air Products facilities. Your key responsibilities will include:

Instrumentation Maintenance:
Troubleshoot, install, and repair all plant instrumentation and controls.

Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to Health & Safety protocols, including contractor management in line with AP standards.

Control System Engineering:
Lead control system engineering initiatives.

Project Management:
Manage plant projects in alignment with AP best practices.

Effective Communication:
Facilitate clear communication among teams.

Operational Support:
Assist Operations teams in resolving process operating problems, enhancing efficiency and reliability.

Advanced Control Implementation:
Implement and maintain advanced control initiatives.

Productivity Improvement:
Drive productivity improvements through advanced controls and IP 21 changes.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications:

Education:

Minimum of Grade 12 qualification with relevant technical qualification (S4).

Trade:
Instrumentation Trade Test.

Experience:

At least 5 years in heavy industry Instrumentation and Control equipment.

PLC/DCS Expertise: 5-10 years of experience with PLC/DCS systems.

System Knowledge:
Experience with ABB 800XA, Siemens PCS7, or Allen Bradley Systems (SCADA & PLC), including programming and fault-finding.

Control System Design:
Ability to design, build, install, and implement new control systems.

Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of Modbus systems, VMware/ESXi, networking, and VLAN systems.

Project Management:
Proven project management experience.

Collaboration:

Ability to work effectively with plant operators, process engineers, and management.

Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.

Standards Knowledge:
Basic understanding of NOSA and ISO Standards.

Driver’s License:
Valid driver’s license (Code

B).

Flexibility:
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
