Job Context
- Good client and transporter relations
- Plan and coordinate loading and delivery schedules.
- Optimize routes for timely and efficient delivery.
- Ensure compliance: verify that carriers are insured, reliable and professional.
- Escalate dispute resolution between clients, carriers and drivers when needed.
- Document management administration such loading instructions, POD’s etc.
Key performance areas:
- Secure transporters for all loads scheduled
- Secure loads for all transporters available
- Ensure that all instructions are handed to the transporters a day prior to loading
- Follow up with previous day loading and make sure vehicles are on time
- Follow up on daily loading
- Report to customers on any delays (breakdowns included)
- Create all relevant trips on TMS for all loads loaded
- Allocate resources on TMS
- Follow up on all outstanding PODS
- Assist with weekly and monthly flash
Qualifications required:
- Matric and relevant Logistics qualification
Skills and Experience required:
- Ability to communicate/negotiate
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer experience (Outlook/Excel/Word/Access).
- A fair knowledge of operational procedures.
- Own reliable transport to and from work.
- Willingness to work night shifts and weekends, including public holidays when needed
- The ability to operate under pressure and with limited supervision.
- Experience in a similar environment will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills – daily contact with transporters, drivers, dispatch and receiving personnel
- Proficient in the use of MS Word/ Excel/ Outlook
- Broking proficiency
- Well versed in e-mail etiquette and MS Outlook with good writing skills
