Compliance Officer: Tax – Financial Services Jobs in Cape Town, South Africa at AGC Recruitment Pty Ltd
Our client in the financial services industry is seeking a Compliance Officer with Tax experience to monitor and report on the firms compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The role involves ensuring the company and its clients are protected in terms of contractual arrangements, as well as performing company secretarial functions for applicable companies within the group. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for setting appropriate deadlines and ensuring all deadlines for Board meetings, statutory filings, and tax filings are met.
Additionally, the candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and internal/external reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Stay fully informed and up-to-date with applicable legislation, regulations, notices, directives, and rules, including:
Collective Investment Schemes Control Act.
Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act.
Companies Act.
Financial Intelligence Centre Act.
Pension Funds Act.
Long Term Insurance Act.
Financial Markets Act.
Protection of Personal Information Act.
Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
ASISA Standards and Codes.
King Code of Corporate Governance.
Code for Responsible Investing in South Africa.
Principles of Responsible Investment.
Cadbury Report (UK).
Experience and Qualifications:
B. Com with LLB Degree.
Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
Articles from a large reputable law firm.
Strong knowledge of Sharia law is essential.
Consistent and outstanding academic track record.
4 – 6years post articles experience specializing in financial services law.
Experience in commercial, contract financial services law and tax.
Understanding corporate governance and knowledge of global best practice / trends within the regulatory, compliance and governance framework.
Background in financial services regulation / law with knowledge of the South African and Global regulatory landscape including risk management would be beneficial.
Ability to follow rules, policies and procedures.
Ability to complete tasks independently with strong attention to detail.
