Old Mutual International is looking for a Compliance Officer to assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Head of Compliance to ensure the company adheres to external rules and regulations as well as internal policies.
The Individually accountable for establishing a compliance framework, including Risk Management and Monitoring plan.
Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:
Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Management
- Risk Management Culture: Contributes to a strong risk management culture within the OMI business, ensuring compliance with all local and offshore regulatory reporting requirements.
- Compliance Processes: Develops and efficient and effective compliance-related processes, frameworks, and tools, including their implementation and ongoing monitoring.
- Contribute to the enhancement of the Operational Risk Management Framework, methodologies, and policies, providing guidance to address operational risk challenges.
- Regulatory Compliance Reporting: Prepare and facilitate regulatory compliance reporting, maintain registers and logs, and update the control environment as needed.
- Compliance Support: Provide ongoing compliance support, advice, and input to the OMI business, translating regulatory requirements into actionable plans and initiatives.
- Change Management: Plan and initiate effective change management for new regulations, procedures, or policies impacting the business.
- Stakeholder Partnerships: Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to achieve operational risk and compliance objectives.
- Regulatory Insight: Attend key strategic and operational meetings to ensure the executive team has appropriate knowledge of key regulatory risks.
- Training and Knowledge Transfer: Ensure relevant stakeholders are trained and enabled to fulfil their compliance responsibilities through various training methods.
- AML/CFT and FATCA/CRS Compliance: Maintain a robust control environment, especially related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and FATCA/CRS.
Audit Compliance
- Audit Support: Support Group Risk, external, and internal audits during inspections, investigations, and audits.
AML Responsibilities
- Ongoing Monitoring: Conduct ongoing monitoring and assurance reviews to ensure AML compliance.
- Reporting and Documentation: Assist in preparing and maintaining AML-related reports and documentation.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in AML regulations and industry standards, advising management on potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
- AML Training: Develop and deliver AML training programs to staff, ensuring awareness and compliance with AML requirements.
- Investigation and Reporting: Assist in the investigation and reporting of suspicious activities as per regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience required:
- Minimum 5 years’ compliance experience in the financial services industry and understanding of offshore regulatory environment.
- Preferable relevant tertiary degree or compliance industry recognised certification/qualification.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong planning and co-ordination skills.
- Strong business writing and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
