Overview
Hawaii Commercial Tire Co. is hiring a full-time tire technician for our Kona shop. We are a small team servicing the Big Island, with another location in Hilo. This is hands-on work involving tire changes, tire repairs, deliveries, warehouse work, and some customer service. We are willing to train if you are new to tires, but you need to be reliable, able to move and lift heavy equipment, comfortable communicating with customers, and have a valid Type 3 driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
Pay: $22/hr to start, $26/hr after passing the TIA tire technician exam.
Typical Schedule: 7AM–4PM, Mon–Fri, with rotating on-call weekends.
What you’ll do:
- Mount, change, and repair tires in-shop and on the road.
- Pull and prep orders for customers, sales, and service personnel.
- Deliver tires and transfer inventory between our warehouses.
- Handle customer calls and walk-ins when available.
What you’ll need:
- Valid Type 3 driver’s license and a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift and lift gate.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly while working in various conditions the job calls for.
- Ability to work on your own and on a team with a “can-do” attitude.
- Clear spoken and written English for customer and team communications.
- Tire and warehouse experience a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
